WHO WE ARE
North American Konkani Association (NAKA) was formed in 1998 when Nina Padukone, Damodhar Baliga and Vasanth Bhat saw the need for an all-encompassing national organization to help unite the North American Konkani community, with the goal of preserving our language (our means of communication), showcasing our culture, introducing our children to konkani and nurturing our customs and traditions. With this vision, NAKA strives everyday to serve as a helpful resource when needed and create a presence for the Konkani community in the US and Canada.
HOW CAN WE (KONKANI COMMUNITY) PARTICIPATE?
The current NAKA board has a desire to do something different that can make a difference to the Konkani community as a whole.
One of the initiatives that we have undertaken is to revamp our website MyNAKA.org and have this be our platform to provide different services to our community at large. Our desire is that the community will participate and provide content as we build our platform. The website we want to build is being diligently constructed by volunteers. We request any member of the community who has the skills to come and join this group so we can have better results faster due to the increased participation from a wider community.
Additionally, We have introduced the concept of a nominal lifetime membership which you can join by registering on our website. This will provide members with privileges like access to certain sections and benefits as we continue to grow. This membership covers operational costs of maintaining the website. We can all be successful if there is active participation from the community. We welcome you to NAKA Online, Join OUR COMMUNITY and let us go viral with NAKA pride.
ARE YOU READY TO VOLUNTEER?
A nation-wide organization like our own NAKA can be successful when volunteers across the country join us to make a difference. NAKA members will get many opportunities to serve the community through various initiatives of NAKA.
DONATE TO VARIOUS NAKA CAUSES
Your contribution help us to serve our community better. We could use all the help that our member donors can provide. With a good level of donations many programs and causes can be supported and more services can be provided to the konkanis in North America.
